Splitting a training session

If I have a plan that says 3hrs, how much difference (if any) will it make if I split it as 2 x 1.5hrs (say morning and evening commute)...
In other words is it:
the total volume in a day (or)
the continuity of the session
that is the most important factor (assuming I'm looking to build up stamina)
Thanks for any helpful advice

2 sessions in a day can be very beneficial. I wouldn't worry about the continuity of the session, as if it is at either end of the day, there is unlikely to be much continuity.
What is does allow is you to do the 3 hours of work, at a slightly harder level, compared with doing 3 hours in one go, or you could do 2 different training rides within the 1 day.0 -
Quality vs Quantity vs Recovery. Two quality session with adequate recovery inbetween will have more impact. Likewise, a very intensive set followed by a recovery set if aligned to your training goals will have more imact that just 3 hours of general riding.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0
