Qn for owners of Cosmic Carbone SLs

I'm considering building up my new bike with these wheels, and had two quick questions about them:

1. They are advertised as having 50mm rims - does this measurement include the aluminum braking surface? I ask because I want to get some custom decals for them, which I don't want to go over the braking surface ie. So they would have to be narrower than the 50mm.

2. What is the freewheel noise on these hubs? Are they super clicky or quiet quiet?

Thanks all!

  • I had Carbone Premiums (sold now) but the designs are all the same. The 50mm rim depth includes the alu brake rim. Also bear in mind that the spokes enter the fairing a good few mm down from the outer edge, so you have to take that measurement off the total as well as the alu rim depth to work out your max decal height.
The freehub wasn't silent, but wasn't particularly noisy - definitely not compared to the Chris King R45s I have now, which sound like a swarm of angry bees. Does discourage me from freewheeling though!

Thanks Pinkbikini - when you get a spare moment, could you (or anyone else with these wheels) measure for me the depth of the rim that decals could be applied to? (ie. the rim minus the braking surface and any additional space lost to the spokes)?

    Many thanks

You have 30mm of space to apply decals, the original decals are 20mm deep.
