Who fancies a nice jaunt from Bristol to Weston S Mare then?

Could be a nice ride if we get a group of us together.

Am I being thick, or is there no route on the website?
  • From what I can find it's the same as last year.

Out from Long Ashton, through Barrow Gurney, and out to Chew Valley Lakes, Blagdon, UP Burrington Combe, Priddy, Cocklake, Wedmore, Sexy's School, Highbridge, Burnham, Uphill & finally WSM.

Ad then for the really hardcore, ride back to Bristol when done.

I will be on a geared bike - may have to do it in club kit, so may have to show "willing".....but otherwise I would like to hang about with the posse.

The stuff around the Chew Valley lakes is more taxing. Burrington Combe is just a cruise

Sounds like we have the start of a plan. I'm in assuming I can work out the logistics of getting to Bristol and back to Bath afterwards.

  • Having done some research it would appear that this ride loosely follows National Cycle Route 3, before then joining route 33 for the leg back the Weston.

  • Having spoken to the organisers the route is something like this.

I know a lot of those roads well. You will be suffering big time on a single speed. :)

It does have a bit of a reputation locally. And this is in an area that doesn't fit any cyclists definition of flat. :D

  • If it was easy what would the point be????

In the words of John F Kennedy "We choose to cycle up Burrington Combe in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard"
