Marz 44RLO - anyone else had problems?

Quick question - I returned this fork after 6 months to CRC, who sent it back to their distributors (I think that's Windwave?) Very quick turnaround, expecially over the holidays.

The problem was a very unpleasant creak, especially with braking or even with gently pushing the front tyre against a wall. I initially thought the noise was from the handlebars, but tightening / swapping components made no difference, so narrowed it down to the fork. The suspension action was fine and it's a nice fork, if a little heavy (mine's the 2010 100mm model, which I think is no longer available in the 2011 line-up).

Anyway, it's back today with not much detail about the fault, but they have replaced the steerer / crown while keeping the lower section. Still haven't fitted it back to the bike and ridden it, but it's a bit odd - just makes me wonder had the steerer tube cracked or warped? Definitely didn't crash and it looked OK to me when I took it off to send away.

Has anyone else had similiar problem with this fork - or had the same parts replaced with a different make? It would have been nice to have had a bit more detail from the company as to what the real problem was.....
