This post doesn't require any replies, I'm just venting a little spleen................

I bought my other half a Kindle E-reader for Christmas. Last night, having suggested she didn't use it to read in the bath, and getting moaned at for pressing the point. She dropped it in the bath and now it's f*cked.

I wasn't amused !!

How did you pay for it? If you paid on credit card, have you checked if you are covered for accidental damage on new purchases?

    I'm marrying her in 8 weeks !!!!
Don't worry , I'll be dining out on that for a loooooong time :D

On a positive note, it's been in a food bag with silica gel sachets in the airing cupboard for 24hrs, and after recharging it, it seems fine now.

She might still have been right. Maybe it was highly unlikely she would actually drop it in the bath and you were being unreasonable getting on at her about it. Just because it actually happened doesn't prove you were right, it might have been an incredibly unlucky fluke.

Whenever I visit my mother and have a glass of wine with my meal in front of the telly, she is convinced that wherever I put the glass it is bound to be knocked over and stain her carpet / furniture / whatever. I know that this is very unlikely because I am always very careful to put it somewhere stable and keep an eye on it. Still, one of these days it might just happen that it somehow gets knocked over, and then she will suddenly have been right all along...

But I didn't say in my post, or suggest to her that she might drop it, I suggested that it wasn't a good idea. It ended up in the water proving my point that it wasn't a good idea.

Still doesn't prove that it wasn't a good idea! Maybe she remembers things she reads in the bath twice as well as when reading elsewhere due to increased bloodflow to the brain, and this advantage far outweighs any risk (especially a non-specified one!).

By your argument, you could tell someone that cycling wasn't a good idea, and then say that your point was proved the first time they fell off!

I'm pretty sure it is the OPs fault in some way, that's how it works in my house. Wife can't get something to work and it is down to me even if I've never so much as touched it. I even get telephone calls in an accussing tone if she can't get her PC plays up at work!!

Now you're arguing the point for the sake of it, unless I've missed the humour in your answers.

I reckon that your other half is reading this too and the reason you're getting so uptight is because I'm taking her side.
