how and what it fits to."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

On most it would fit to the seat tube.
Youre really buying the clamp type - most mechs will have a spacer in that you fit depending on the tube diameter.0 -
ah gotcha. not bought one before, wanted to check.

see the FAQs"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Wiggle sell a multi-fit which has all the spacers available so should fit your bike. If you're unsure of the size get the multi-fit to cover all options.

so will this http://www.wiggle.co.uk/shimano-xt-m771-front-derailleur/ be compatible with my Deore LX rear derailleur on my GT?
i.e. its dual pull? and XT not a standard Deore LX0 -
Front and rear are independent of each other.
You need a dual pull (Ithat is) and the correct size clamp (they fit all but the weirdest dimensions) and positioning for your frame. Although most HTs will take low and high clamps.0
