What are Ritchey dropouts are there different ones

I know another daft question but...


My bike I built with a Saunders Life frame, has them, I know where they are (the rear wheel goes into them right) but what are they as compared with others ! they all look the same to me.

I ask because as I commute on this I am told that changing a wheel/removing to fix a puncture can be more problematic.

Ritchey dropouts are vertical ones. If you're using gears, they're easy.

I assume you mean a Sanderson Life frame. Ritchey is just a designer/manufacturer of bike parts, including some of the metal bits that go into frames, and including dropouts.

The "Richey dropouts" are vertical but very minimalist. They have a characteristic curved cowling above the slot
