Cycleops Fluid 2 Turbo Trainer?

Hi all,
I've never owned a turbo trainer before, but given the snow I reckon it's about time I did!
I fancy the Cycleops Fluid 2 for £180 at Amazon. Anybody know if it's any good and what it's best competition is? Does it provide enough resistance (fairly average regular cyclist, 100miles/week in better weather).
A couple of other questions:
Has anyone tried both magnetic and fluid trainers - are the latter better and if so how?
The above tt doesn't come with any computer. I guess that's the norm at this price range? Do most of you just do without or do you use a heart rate or cadence monitor?
cheers for any thoughts!
Andy

What you are looking for has been discussed at length in older threads -> Search is your friend.
FWIW I have a Fluid 2 and like it a lot (as much as you can like a turbo trainer...).European Cycling Trips: http://bikeplustours.com0 -
I have a fluid II and I like it, too.
Fluid gives a smoother resistance, magnets can be grabby/irregular.
Buy it.Start with a budget, finish with a mortgage!0 -
Have A Fluid 2 And Like It Alot Too, Good Resistance And Not Too Loud.0

Me also - bought one in November and very satisfied with it. A heart rate monitor isvery useful for controlling intensity.0

Great! I'm gonna go for the Cycleops Fluid 2!
No other spare cash at the mo, but how much is a decent heart rate monitor? Can you recommend a decent brand and model?
cheers guys!0 -
Fluid 2 for me too, had it a couple of years & had no bother. Stable, quiet & the resistance is linear, the more you put in the harder it gets. Non adjustable though so high resistance intervals are a no-no. Saying that pushing a 53/12 round is plenty hard enough for sprints & high intensity stuff.
£180 is cheap enough too, go for it.0 -
That's it ordered! £180 inc p&p.
Any recommendations re heart and cadence monitors folks?
cheers,
