    Road or off road riding?
Life is like a roll of toilet paper; long and useful, but always ends at the wrong moment. Anon.

For the Alps, I'd second Bormio. Fantastic riding around there with the Stelvio, Umbrail, Gavia, Mortirolo, Foscagno etc. Had a week there in 2008 and there's a write up and some pics here... http://www.bikeit.eclipse.co.uk/bormio2008/index.htm

For the Dolomites I'd recommend Arabba. We spent a great week there in 2009. Small town at the foot of the Pordoi and Campolongo passes. We managed the following that week...
Pordoi, Sella, Gardena, Campolongo, Giau, Fedaia, Staulanza, Duran, Tre Croci, Falzarego, Valparola and the Tre Cime de Lavaredo.

Write up and pics here... http://www.bikeit.eclipse.co.uk/dolomites2009/index.htm

You wouldn't go wrong with either of those hotels we stayed in either. Superb.

    Cheeers... Allan.
