The brakes on the 2011 Specialized Roubaix elite are described as Shimano ratio .
I cannot find any reference to this description on the Shimano website or anywhere else on the web using google.
Are they equivalent to 105 brakes or what?

I believe they mean they are brakes that work with Shimano STIs.
so not actual shimano brakes."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

But presumably they must be made Shimano otherwise Shimano would be suing Specialized for breach of copyright?0

No. Calling them 'Shimano ratio' is just saying they are compatible with Shimano brake levers. Copyright's irrelevant here, you mean trademark - and that would only be an issue if Shimano could demonstrate that Specialized were trying to pass off these brakes as being made by Shimano, which I don't think is the case.
And Shimano would be insane to sue one of their biggest customers anyway.John Stevenson0 -
Thank you for both your explanations.
