Heh, I was riding along beside the reservoir today, all covered in snow... Oops, no, this is a bit smooth, I'm riding ON the reservoir. Luckily the ice was good and thick :oops:Uncompromising extremist0

The Russkies do seem to be trying to corner the market in Dariwn Award activities - but failing as they only got an honourable mention."I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0

Water that cold can kill you in 2-3 minutes, however it was quite shallow.
As someone who spent a lot of my youth in Germany and playing hockey on frozen ponds, they did make some serious mistakes. Never try and get out of ice in another area, always head back to the spot you fell in from, you know the ice is thick enough to support you
Also the other dingbats were all walking in close proximity to one another on thin ice!0 -

But the bit before the point you fell in held you and is therefore thick enough0 -

But then that's not heading back to the spot where you fell in from, cause there's no ice there cause you fell in. You mean get out and walk the way you came, so you don't fall in again.
