What do people use? Valve extenders or dedicated uber-long valved tubes?
I have a shed load of 42 and 52mm Conti' tubes already but I notice they do a 60mm tube as well.

I use longer valved tubes on my Mavics - I don't trust the seal of the extenders! I'm also aware of the risks of dropping/losing an extender during a quick tube change when out and about.

Cheers Chrissz. They've come with a set of Shimano extenders but I don't like the look of them, the mini spanners or the O-rings.

Are 60mm valves sufficient or would 80mm be more advisable?

I think I have 65mm valves - I found the 80mm far too long - got two, boxed and unused on the back shelf in the shed - destined to stay there for the foreseeable future!

On my cosmic car bones, I use continental long valves, think they are 80mm. Don't bother with extenders.
Never had any problems with them

You can use these tubes with a valve extender, just wind on some plumbers tape around the valve thread before you put the extender on.

Did this with a pair of Zipps, and never had an issue. If you get a puncture, just take a bit of tape with you.....but not necessary to just get you back home.
