Lapierre Tecnic 700 OR Boardman Team?

Since I doubt anyone has test-ridden both of these bikes and made direct comparisons, I'm not expecting a comprehensive reply SO, maybe you could just make recommend based the reputation of each brand, and the spec maybe?

Both have similarities (price, weight, spec) but the Boardman wins on spec (I believe) with better forks for example (Reba compared with Toras on the Lapierre). The Boardman also has SRAM, Truvativ and Richey components, whilst there is way too much Shimano Deore on the Lapierre.

BUT I like the look of the Lapierre and I can't bring myself to buy a Boardman from Halfords. It would be like buying shoes from Clarks!!!

Stop being a brand snob. The Boardman's have great components for the money. The problem with Boardmans is not the bikes, it's the retailer.

I'll get my shoes....Clarks of course.

Test ride them both and buy whichever fits best.

Boardman Team is far, far better value. And an award winning bike.

    It is a simple choice.....

Get the BOARDMAN!!! Much better spec.
Constantly trying to upgrade my parts. It is a long road ahead as things are so expensive for little gain. n+1 is always the principle in my mind.

2011 Boardmans will be available in independent bike shops this year. Sub £2,000 bike will still be in Halfords, but the new premium models, up to £5,000, will be available independently.
That should give the brand some more credibility amongst the bike snobs.

  • was set on aBoardman until I sat on it. The medium was toom small and the large to big. Ended up spending a bit more ands bought a Scott. Always worth testing first.
I don't mind what they say... as long as they say its enormous
  • Hi mate ,

I have both bikes ( The Lapierre I have it for 2 years and I really love it ) and I will be honest with you but I love both. They are very different bikes if you get it from standard ! I feel a lot better racing bike the Lapierre but I think changing the tyres, seat and handlebar in the Boardman I will have a different opinion. The tyres in the boardman are crap !!! honestly !!! the handlebar for my personal opinion to long !! Anyway if you need any info please let me know !!

Can vouch for the Team, 2 years in, just into some serious replacement and upgrading. I happen to think my bike looks the bee's bendy bits.
