What a difference 10mm makes!

Have been struggling to get comfortable on the bike for a while especially after I had to raise the stem (couldn't get down as far after an accident) Anyway fitted a 120mm stem the other day to replace the110mm on there and amazed how much better it feels. Bike now feels great. Guess that's the big advantage of a bike fit but just haven't got round to that

  • It does make a difference, a few mm here and there... like you say, big advantage of having it fitted!
  • Just wait until you're time trialling, then it get's anal.

Hmm, I never knew that that was what they meant by bike fitting.

10mm less stem really helped my lower back. About the same less reach on the handlebars makes a nicer ride too. A few mm angling of cleats stopped a sharp lateral knee pain which jeopardised my cycling.

A guy I periodically ride with has just turned pro. A 1mm saddle height adjustment made 5% maximum power output difference he claimed. I was wary given there's so many variables (diet, fatigue, environment etc) but he was adamant. I still am sceptical. but it wouldn't surprise me in the least either.

If Only it were that easy!! =D

But yeah, small adjustments are NOT just a mental thing... tweaked the crap out of my position, and right now im comfortable, but going to be very interested in what a prooper fitter has to say!
