The real question is, what would your wife think if she found you in bed with Omar! Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeettttt (that's my Clay Davis impression, although it should probably have gone on for a few more pages).No-one wanted to eat Patagonia Toothfish so they renamed it Chilean Sea Bass and now it's in danger of over fishing!0 -

You should! It's SO good.
I hadn't even heard of it
Thanks for the heads up. Looks like I have yet another multi-season box set to get :P
I am currently stuck in season 2 of 24 Hours and getting bored.
Still to go - Blackadder, Yes Minister & Yes Prime Minister and The Pacific.
The long nights may not be so bad after all
Just a heads up about the Wire - it's not really like normal TV. It watches more like a book. Example: Season 1 - is 1 investigation. A wire isn't even mentioned till at least episode 5. The episodes run like chapters in a season long book - they have no particular cadence and do not resolve. Instead, over the seasons, it builds out and fills out characters and issues that seem to fill an entire city. It's entirely unsentimental, shocking, touching and powerful, but not so heavy it's unwatchable (which, the corner apparently is).0 -

Save some time and don't bother with The Pacific, I loved Band of Brothers and have watched the series on DVD several times but I gave up after 4 episodes of The Pacific and scrubbed it off Sky+.0 -

Hmm. I thought the first two episodes were okay but not as good as Band of Brothers obviously.
What I miss most is the touching comments from the actual people involved.
Still, it is only a few hours to go, not days as with other series.............None of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.0 -

Mrs P has now started going on about "brothers" and "gear" whilst talking in a strange accent.
I've told her that if she is going to start behaving like a mother to some other brother, I'm going to Moe's for some beer.0 -
All this talk of The Wire has made me want to watch an episode.
"WMD, got your WMD!"FCN 3: Raleigh Record Ace fixie-to be resurrected sometime in the future
FCN 4: Planet X Schmaffenschmack 2- workhorse

Set in Atlantic City 1920, just as prohibition starts. Lots of character setting in the first episode, but a great story and lots of action and twists. Plenty of 20's gangster stuff and a young Al Capone features.
Worth a look !!
Isn't that Scorsese? Might have a look...
I think that's gonig to launch the new Sky Atlantic Channel.

Very different, but very watchable - West Wing is fantastic.
Also think about Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip - another Sorkin production and isn't as immediate as West Wing, but I enjoyed it.
If you haven't seen it, I can rec the Nathan Barley series - that's pretty good funny stuff too.http://www.georgesfoundation.org

Another one for the The West Wing. It isn't going to be everyone's cup of tea but I had little knowledge of or interest in U.S politics when I stumbled across it when first shown on Channel 4 at silly o'clock but I found it completely engrossing.
Also a Nathan Barley fan. "The idiots are winning". Class.0 -

Plus 1 for Studio 60 - excellent but as usual it got canned by stupid yanks who didnt get it. In that camp I will also put Flashforward which I loved and was totally hooked and yet again got canned.0 -
I will also vouch for the sopranos, best telly ever. Haven't seen the wire  have been hoping to catch it from the start somewhere after numerous recommendations. Looks like I will be buying a box set soon.0
