Swiss army bike on ebay

I've heard of these before but this is the first time I've seen one:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1957-Swiss-Army-B ... 0751875450
Seems to have a very long wheelbase and the seatstays bolt on at the top for some reason.
Am I right in saying the front brake pushes down on the tyre? Surely I'm seeing things?
Some interesting info on them: http://www.63xc.com/stefs/sabike.htm

Yes, if you look at the rightmost image you can see that the brake shoe is horseshoe shaped and placed above the wheel. The wheel rims are also small and curved so they really don't look as though they were designed for braking. I've no idea how well they would work but it looks like there's quite a large contact area between the shoe and the treaded tyre so they might have been quite effective. As long as you don't get a puncture, when your stopping power would almost completely disappear.
EDIT: piccy...

That looks like a battery pack on the back. Has it got Di2 shifting?
Also how much does it weigh?0 -
Looks horrible.
Probably need a genuine v12 engine strapped onto the top of that to make it move.0 -

unix's 2nd link answers your 2nd question..And it is incredibly, wonderfully heavy. It weighs about 23kg--more than 50lb.0 -

53 years old actually, not 43. I know this as it was my 43rd birthday yesterday so I'm a bit of an expert on 43 :-)http://www.strathspey.co.uk - Quality Binoculars at a Sensible Price.

You could bring some harmony and solidarity with that other maligned group of non-motorised road users; if it has the attachment for getting stones out of horses' hooves :idea:2011 Bianchi D2 Cavaria in celeste (of course!)

It's not been designed for aesthetics! We have loads of them at work so people can get around the site faster. I've actually not ridden one yet but whilst they are old and heavy they function perfectly well with minimal maintenance. I might take one for a spin round the airfield this afternoon!
There are quite a few Miltärvelorennen each year in Switzerland and one guy was faster than Jens Voigt on a fancy new carbon bike:
