I'm running Conti Gatorskin 25's on a Spesh Allez Sport. Will the Mk2's be suitable and provide enough clearance or are the tyres to big.

Cheers Tony.

  • I'm running MK1s on top of 28's. It's rather tight but are running without rubs provided the road is clear. I have about 1mm clearance around them, so there is a bit of scraping whenever hitting mud/grit.

I couldn't say in your particular case, but generally the test is to try and squeeze a 5 mm Allen key between the top of the tyres and the bottom of the brake callipers, and also between the rear tyre and the seat tube. If you can, then you should be okay. If you can only just squeeze a 4 mm key in, then the Cruds will be a very tight fit. Less clearance than that and you are out of luck.

Obviously you could consider going down to 23C tyres if you need more clearance.
