A pleasant suprise

For reasons I won't go into, today was my first ride on the road for TWO MONTHS

Given it's the first day back after the christmas/new year break for a lot of people I was suprised how quiet the roads were, just an observation.

Has anyone else found this to be the case around their locality?

It was a relatively quiet commute into work for me. Left me with the impression that the schools aren't back yet.

Training day for the teachers at my daughter's school, so kids off - don't know if that's all schools or just the one though :?

Ongoing recovery from swine flu means that I'll be in the tin truck this week.

I was preparing myself for the usual January crush on the early train into Town*. However, it was pleasantly quiet so I suspect lots of people are still off. Only a matter of time though...

*People usually stick to their New Year's resolution to get to work earlier for 3 weeks, during which time the trains are a nightmare.

Noticeably busier today, but at least one of the schools on my route was still shut
