so vat has gone up to 20% (thanks mr osborne) so that means an extra £2.50 per £100 right?
wonder then why wiggle have increased the price of the dhb SuperRoubaix bibtights from £78 yesterday to £83 today:

infact, it seems they have increased most non sale items by more than 2.5%.

Wrong. Something that cost £100 before already had 17.5% VAT. An extra 2.5% VAT on something that cost £100 prior to the VAT increase is only an extra £2.10.

Because regardless of VAT increases, prices occasionally rise. I think it's called 'inflation'. Not sure though.
The timing of the price increases by Wiggle merely make it look like they have miscalculated the new taxes.
Prices go up. Deal with it.0 -
Todays media is rife with speculation that a lot of businesses will take the opportunity to bundle price rises in with the VAT increase, giving a net rise of maybe 7 or 8 % ...
You could blame it on inflation I guess, but it's all a bit too convenient if you ask me.
With so many people already confused that the move from 17.5% to 20% does not mean just adding on another 2.5% to the price, they'll be hoping to use this as smoke and mirrors in an attempt to hide price hikes.

Just shop elsewhere.0 -
I for one will be using this to increase my prices. I've not had a proper rise for years and now seems like the time for one. I have catalogues printed with prices in them, it's cheaper to buy them in large number but makes it awkward to change prices. If I have to change my prices because of VAT then I may as well do the price rise at the same time.http://www.strathspey.co.uk - Quality Binoculars at a Sensible Price.

I can't remember a time like this for bargains, some of the prices are really cut, maybe after a slow winter? Wheelbase in staveley has removed the cost of VAT for the next week or so. The only thing is it is only a bargain if you need it. The problem is I always seem to need new kit!0
