Old tubes for puncture protection.

I was just wondering had anyone used an old tube as a liner in the tyre to help prevent punctures on a road bike? If so, did you find the extra weight noticeable while cycling?. Thanks.

It will only add another layer of rubber so any sharp objects will still get in. Try an old tubular tyre - they seem to work well.0

Robert Millar used to train with a pair of winter tyres with old race tubs as inners - must've been a bu%%er to get them on and a sod if you did get a puncture!
Re the OP, there have been a number of attempts at producing 'tyre liners' e.g. Tuffy Tape the problem is that they rarely stay put inside the tyre and make handling sluggish.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0
