My fiancee has finally caught the cycling bug and picked up her new bike yesterday. Question I have is what bike rack to I buy?

I am looking for one to attach to the back of the car (2009 5-door Ford Focus) and I do not have a towbar.

We have two - a halfords one and a hollywood one. The hollywood one is much better. I think it is the original F1B. There is an issue with bikes rubbing though, which I solved by buying soft rubber sheeting - similar to that used for awning flooring when caravanning. I cut it up into pads about a foot square and stick them between the bikes at contact points. The more modern ones seem to have individual positioning for bikes that may be better.

I also have thule roofbars with a couple of bike carriers and regard that as much superior. I have only just bought a road bike and don't think I would be prepared to cahance it on the back with other bikes, where I would put it on the roof.

Can't you get them in the car? It's much easier, just take the front wheels off.
If you have to have one the montblanc easygrip H3 is the one I would get.

I personally have a Saris Bones bike rack, very strong and stable at speed, however like most bumper mounted cycle racks it tends to rub/scuff the paint on the car.....

Hence why i have not used it on my GTI,if i were you i would opt for a roof mounted system unless ofcourse you dont mind your paint being damaged ?
