Broken front suspension from over tightening?

Hi. I'm pretty new to mountainbiking but enjoying it. I was toying with my front suspension (Rock Shox - air) with the knob at the top of the fork and i think i overtightened it with the spanner as I heard a big gush of air pressure escape. Any ideas on what is gone wrong? The suspension is flat now and gives no bounce. I'm fearing having to buy new forks altogether already?!
MY bike is a second hand GT XC 2.0.
All help is really really appreciated!
Thanks

What is the exact model of fork? Did you tighten the top cap ie with 24mm spanner?0

Sounds like you stripped the threads on it. It may be salvageable but you'd probably need to send it back to Rockshox for examination.2010 Lynskey R230
