Hi, i have a shimano deore xt fc-m760 chainset and i think the bearings in the BB need replacing as they feel horrible and sound horrible. the seals are worn too and don't fit very well (broken in some places) so let alot of crap in. i've found quite a few bearings but are any particular ones better for the job than others? also i can't find any replacement seals? However i did find this that i think will do the job. has anyone used these? http://www.mountainbikecomponents.co.uk/items.asp?CategoryID=237&Name=Hollowtech+II+bearing+upgrade

I used those Enduro bearings in an XTR BB... Only one set so I can't give a totally fair review, but then the reason it was just one set is that they were rotten, gave up after under 500 miles. Considering that they're not even very cheap I won't be buying them again, sooner just get a new BB.Uncompromising extremist0

ok so do you think getting a whole new bb that will last longer is a better option. should i just go for the same shimano again or splash out on something like a hope. i don't mind about it being super smooth i just want something that will last ages and won't let any muck in

I just use XT normally, I grab a couple whenever they come up cheap. Just trying a Gusset EXT24 which seems decent so far, though it's only been in for a few months so no idea on lifespan. This is one of those questions that really divides opinion but it does always seem to me that the folks who argue in favour of expensive BBs tend to have disproporionately poor mileage from cheaper ones. I get on fine with XT.Uncompromising extremist0

Grease. The barstewards don't put grease in half of them. Load em with grease yourself and keep an eye on them and you'll double the life.luigi_t8 wrote:the seals are worn too and don't fit very well (broken in some places) so let alot of crap in.
If they have gone and the damage done and you get a new XT BB - check for grease before you install, if need be load it up yourself before installing. Then keep an eye on it, grease doesn't last forever down there.0 -
has anybody used the enduro seals? i would just clean out my bearings and repack but one of the plastic seals/ caps has a chip in it so the bearing is exposed which means loads of crap is gonna get in...... i've been looking endlessly for the replacement cap with no luck. the only thing i did find was this, would it fit my HT II bb?

Just buy this or this.... Job done for 1,000s of miles if fitted correctly and it's not a duffer.
