Check out the jockey wheels on eBay.
Standard replacements are less than a tenner, but there is plenty of upgrades available, inc ceramic bearings, alloy wheels, carborn wheels, coloured etc etc.Stumpjumper FSR 09/10 Pro Carbon, Genesis Vapour CX20 ('17)Carbon, Rose Xeon CW3000 '14, Raleigh R50

If there's nothing wrong with the mech then just replace the jockey wheels.0

II recently upgraded my XT to an SLX and the performance upgrade is significant. I had only had the last for a couple of years (had to replace one jockey in that time) and the spring was loosing its power
The SLX is so much better.
Not amazingly relevant, just saying that you can get a better mech for less than you think. Why would I care about 150g of bike weight, I just ate 400g of cookies while reading this?0 -

that's a matter of opinion..............IMO0 -
well yeah, is a matter of opinion but back to back, XT Is better than SLX!
however, if foe example your using m750 xt and the latest M670/80 (whatever code slx uses!) then yes it could well feel like an upgrade!Timmo.

Which model you prefee is opinion, but swapping XT for SLX is a downgrade.
Unless he is talking about brand new SLX over say 10 year old XT.Trek Fuel EX 8 (2010)0 -
i think for me it's just that i don't see any real difference between the 2 so i'd opt for SLX cos it's cheaper (yes i have used both)0

Original XT jockey wheels certainly arent less than a tenner either! - just replaced mine with BBB ones from Dotbike - seem great0

The newest generation of XT is two years old, SLX is this years kit.
Mine were the 663 and the 771. 663 noticably snappier, much closer in feel to the saint than the XT.
very nice new toy.
I am sure the next gen of XT will take the lead again.
Anyone know when it is coming out?Why would I care about 150g of bike weight, I just ate 400g of cookies while reading this?0 -
i kept my old M752 going for Years by snipping the spring a couple of coils and reshaping the end to make a like new action!! was just too tight to get a new one hahaha!
the new 10sp XT is available i think, would guess the 9sp might get an update soon though!Timmo.

You're my kind of tight arse. Genius in fact.0 -
XT Jockey wheels are about £35 the pair (one ball raced, one ceramic bearing) although the stock cheapies will fit and work fine.
Keep i going, why pay more? Either get 'standard' jockies or after market good ones.
