Ive just been looking over my system six road bike today and noticed theres a small crack on the top tube. I have Owend the bike for 18months it's a liquigas system six 105 . the crack is on the top tube on the side, about 10" the the fork tube, I cant under stand how it has happend as this is not a stress point? I've been looking and can't find my recipt (I must of lost it in between as I have moved house). I'm just wondering were do I stand? Will the bike be ok to ride?
Thanks billy

Yes, it's a stressed part (under a significant compresive load- it stops the bike collapsing in the middle). As for the cause, it's difficult to say.

Personaly, I wouldn't ride it until there's been a proper assesment made, just in case the tube integrity has been compromised.

Give the shop that sold it a ring and they should have a record of the sale. That should be sufficient for a warrenty investigation/ claim.

Given 'dales usual response to frame issues you shouldn't be in for a hard time.

Has the handlebar swung around and hit the top tube? That's one of the first things a warranty inspector would look for.
  • Is it a proper crack, or a feint one just running through the lacquer/paint?

hi it's not a proper crack asin it's actually cracked and u can feel it/see fiber hanging out it just looks like a zig zag scratch but I can tell it ain't quite that.
