Me and a mate are doing L2B on 15th weather depending and braving it on fixies

anyone fancy joining us?

Also just realised its the same day as the london bike show, is it going to be a bad day to be in london or not?

  • do you mean the motorbike show? if so, it won't be any different in London tbh, well imo. the DLR is usually a bit busier than usual when there are shows on at the excel centre but I've not noticed any other difference.
as for yr question...I'll pass...I'll be at the Bike Show and the Outdoors Show

I know a few people who've done it on fixed, rather them than me but they get up Ditchling OK!

I met a bloke doing L2B on a brakeless fixie last year.
I wonder how he got down Ditchling? I know he did because I saw him in traffic a few weeks later. Its amazing that of the thousands of people I saw that day I recognised him (well, his bike really), but it was a really beautiful bike.

I was running 48x15 single speed and could do the hill in Greenwich Park, but definitely not Ditchling Beacon. Now on 46x16, might try Shooters Hill to see how that goes, its shorter than Ditchling but similar gradient from memory.

  • Interested to see others are thinking of doing this, and pleased to note you think it sounds a reasonable thing to do. I've mooted a fixed L2B to a few friends, general response is "You can't do that fixed, nutter".

I had been looking to do this ride this winter on my Pompino which is 48x18 (~71") fixed but was thinking of getting a 19t freewheel for the other side of my hub first. You know, just in case. Won't be on the 15th though as I'm working that day.

    Good luck to you all!
