Hello
Quick question. Is there any difference between the m520 and the m770 pedals other than the bearings? does the mechanism work and feel the same.
Iv had some 520s for 6 years and was going to buy some new cleats but since the pedals that come with cleats are only £5 more i was going to get some more, but would the XT's be a noticeable upgrade?
The 520s have took a hammering and although the bearings feel a little ropey there stuff good so i cant say im worried about bearing life.
Thanks

How about the m540 as a compromise?
Easy fitting with an 8mm allen key, better sealing and axles and a tad lighter alu body all for a tenner more.
I think it's far easier to justify getting those over the m520 than the m770 which is another £20 on top of the m540.0 -
I'd say no, they won't be a noticable upgrade. In my experience the only real difference was better sealing on the XT pedals, which reduced the need for pumping grease through the pedals as often, but even if left unmaintained m520s last an age.0

My current m520 haven't been touched in 6 years of mud, grit, rock hits and washes so the better sealing doesn't really seem necessary unless they have reduced the quality on the new models.
Reviews on crc seem to mention some m770 pedals being poorly greased or failing after a year or two while the m520's get 5 stars threw out so think ill go for the m520's if mechanism is the same.0 -
The M770s are basically M540s with XT logos, I wouldn't bother. The 540s are a bit lighter than 520s, and the bearings are smoother out of the box. Longevity will be fine on either frankly!0

For £20 the M520's are unbeatable, why bother unless you just like the bling.
Shifters and Mechs, yeah but pedals - not worth the extra0
