Coast to Coast on roads only?

Hello,

I'm planning the C2C for this summer - possibly as a non-stop route over 24hrs, maybe with a brief sleep rather than a full nights kip. I'd like to do this on roads only as off-roading just doesnt do it for me and I dont have a suitable bike for that anyway.

Is there a "set" route for this? I'm sure I can plan one of my own but if there is a recommended one that takes in the best scenery etc then I'd be interested.

Cheers

Tom

You could do the one up here with a brief stop for breakfast and be home for tea. Is there a defined C2C start & end?

Those are the 2 suggested routes. Personally we did our own route which came in at around 130miles, doable in a day without a sleep. We did Maryport-Keswick-Penrith-Alston-Stanhope-Durham-Blackhall Rocks!

    I did this route

151 miles, took 12 hours, with several leisurely stops, pub lunch, coffees etc

    Great day !

    Unconventional!
  • Hi
I did the route last year on my road bike, used the paths out of Whitehaven as far as rowrah and the old railway path from Keswick, but the rest was on road, including the descent from the moors into stanley - mainly at over 80Kph!. Just followed the closest (non main) road. Most of the soft surfaced paths are fine even on 23s if it is not too wet.
Rode over two days, but total time was 12 hours - split 8hours/4 hours over the two days. Managed a great Pub dinner and a few choice pints in Allenheads on the overnight.
If I can feel the pain in my arse, I mustn't be hurting my legs enough.
