Looking for a turbo trainer but there seem to be so many choices in my price range. Not sure whether to go for magnetic or fluid. Was tempted by the below one in my local decathlon...

That does look a bargain, and it gets good reviews on the Evans site (where it is much more expensive)... I'm tempted.

I had one of them red bikes but I don't any more. Sad face.

i got myself a tacx basic with the basic computer for 80quid on ebay. The computer tracks cadence, speed and wattage, you can also set the desired resistance or set the wattage and it will adjust the resistance based on your cadence. it looks a bit old and tatty but it’s a great piece of kit, possible my best cycling purchase.

so i'd suggest a used one off of ebay

  • I bought that one from my local decathlon about a year ago (paid about £40 more than the price shown - it must be reduced for their sale. Very good turbo used it loads and considering for the price you are also getting the trainer mat, front wheel riser and DVD then you are on to a winner my friend.

Just looked into buying it and it seems you cant just buy off the website like most other ecommerce sites, you have to buy it from a store but none of my local stores have this in stock. Seems a strange way to have an online site
  • They had some in Sheffield on Thursday, not sure if they can send one over to your local store might be worth giving them a call ?

Going to give them a call in the morning, as you say they have plenty in the northern stores so hopefully they can just send one down. Closest price i have found elsewhere is 159 from chain reaction so this really does look like a bargain!

The splash on the homepage says order on-line for the whole of the UK. Click on that, you get put through to a delivery postcode checker - enter my UK postcode - to be told Sorry but No. WTF is that all about?

Its rubbish isnt it! Apparently i can only order from the Surrey Quays store however they dont have it in stock. I tried to order from the stockport store (where they have over 40) and it tells me i am not in that catchment and have to use Surrey Quays!

Based on that, they don't deserve to stay in business.

So how much would you sell it for? And just how much do you think delivery would be? I'm in the market for a trainer, but I can't afford a lot. Is your trainer in good nick? Does it come with a stand? sorry for all the question!
