i used to live there, was there for christmas aswell actually but i wasn't riding.

there's loads of trails from nice single track, to full on downhill, as you'd expect it's dry, dusty and in places rocky.

check out www.lavatrax.com they seem like ggod guys :D

    also:

    hope this helps :D

    Just came back last week.

We did the long way down tour with Lavatrax. You start at the cable car at the base of Mt Teide (2000m) which is then followed by a 400m climb up to 2400m.

Once at 2400m its pretty much all downhill for 60k, you need good brakes. They do a number of tours and are little expensive @60.00 euros, although everything apart from the cigarettes and beer are more expensive than they are here.

If you don't want to take your own bike, bike hire is available for around 20 euros and the bikes look pretty good. Full suss Marin something or others.

    Have a word with them.

Ask for Daz and tell him you've been speaking to Neil and WelshKev off Bike Radar, he might give us a discount next time

I've just uploaded a few photos

and this is worth a watch

(note its not the route we did but you get the idea)

That's a fair point, I'd forgot about that.

How's it going Daz we're still buzzing of the trip. I was a little disappointed I had to cut it short. I still haven't been the doctors but I'm going to keep a close eye on things. I think its this chest infection, I still haven't got rid of it. I'll be fully fit next time though, even if it kills me.

  • Would deffo reccomend Lavatrax too. I did the Mount Tiede ride also. Mike is a great guide (if he still works there!) and really helped when i had a slight crash (3 days in hospital). Take some kneepads though as the terrain is very dry, rocky and dusty.
Hi Daz, hope your ok and had a good xmas and new year?
My knee is ok now but my T shirt is looking a bit tatty.
    Enjoy your hols
  • Hi Neil,

Get to the docs mate, you don't want to end up with a pneumonia, that's not a good day believe me!

Marc, glad your all healed. Mike now works for a German outfit doing tours for his countrymen. We still catch up for a little social biking when the weekends are free though.
You'll have to make a return trip for when we get the 2011 T-Shirts printed up

    Daz.

    Hi Welshkev,

The bikes are always good mate :D
No, honestly, they are well looked after and always cleaned, checked and lubed after each ride ready for the next day. They are currently 120mm Marin Eastpeaks.

No problem using your own pedals if that's what you'd prefer.

For April, if you can give me a couple of weeks notice that would be good.

    Daz

PS. Just got back in from the Long Way Down + and completely cream crackered!
