My apologies to all if this has been covered before but just wanted to hear the right advice from people in the know. I currently ride a 55cm Dogma but I am confused as to which size Colnago I should be looking at whether it be conventional or sloping. My Dogma has a top tube of 55.7cm, the Colnago 52 sloping has a 55cm and the 56cm conventional has a 55cm top tube. Im 6' tall by the way.
Thanks

Hi there. I have a Colnago Extreme Power 65cm (6`5" Tall me :D ) I have a 61cm compact winter bike....it`s usually a 4cm drop when sizing from a standard frame to a compact. Saying that i could have ridden a 64cm Colnago. - This is my 5th Colnago and the handling is superb.
  • As Gazetta says, I think the Colnago's are 4cm bigger than a standard measured frame. i.e. I have a 56cm Colnago Ace, which is closer to a 60cm standard frame.
However what I have found is the frame geometry is only part of the story, because with the Ace you get a longer stem on the larger sizes - I have a 130mm stem on the 56cm Ace (which is what it came with) whereas I know the 52cm Ace comes standard with a 110mm stem - I don't know what size they change from a 110 stem to a 130 stem :?

Not sure what model you're referring to but it sounds like a C59 if you're replacing a Dogma?

    I'm 6ft as well & have a 52 sloping C59

Pretre, no Im keeping the Dogma but have a Look 595 which I am replacing with a EPS hopefully, thanks for replies
  • I'd have said a 52s was too small for a 6 footer, but Pretre obviously disproves that one. I'm 5'10" and have a 52s Colnago Ace (I had a recent bike fit, so I'm certain that for me this is the right size and geometry).

Based on your Pinarello I'd have said 52s for any of the Colnago's, but a 55 or 56cm HTT is either side of your Pinarello, so I guess you could go either way... in which case ('cos you can adjust the reach) I'd base it on head tube length and how relaxed a ride you prefer. (Notwithstanding that the seat tube angle may change with the size... another consideration - just to add confusion.)

BTW. I think you might be confused by Colnago's geometry charts - they give you a 'conventional' size to compare with their own seat-tube-based sizing - so a 52s and 56 conventional can be the same thing.

PS. A Dogma and an EPS is a great line-up!
I'm at that difficult age... somewhere between birth and death.
