You loved the sportive, off road riding puts a giant smile on your face, your commute crosses the odd single track/path. We all know CX bikes are the idea all round machine = FACT.

So why not combine them in a CX sportive  :D

Well someone had to do it eventually www.cxsportive.com http://www.cxsportive.com/events/woodcote-30th-jan-2011/

80, 60 or 40km course options.

£18 for the 80km - i'm sooooo in 8)

  • Interesting.

I have pretty deep drop brakes on my roadie - should be able to fit up to 700x32 tyres on it. Any recommendations?

I certainly think so; a cracking idea, but I need to clear it with the boss. Aiming for the 80k route.

Aye young man, we should assemble to troops for this one.

It's so cool I have no idea what to expect

    ACE!

I love the idea of blasting along a lane suddenly to have to dismount jump a hedge and go off roading, sounds like heaven.

  • I could probably do this on my tourer - big fat 35s on it, but on the downside, old centrepulls. I won't though, because it's MENTAL! God gave us roads for a reason......... ;)

  • thats a really fun idea really.

i guess at a push I could take the old girl, (big old steel racer) I'll have a wee think about it. my mountain bike is set up for mud plugging so while i'm sure would sail over any lumps is hard work keeping the wheels rolling at any lick.

I knew it would happen - racing for hybrids - I have the perfect bike for this event

700 x 35 wheels - faster than MTB on the road sections - grippier (is that a word) than road bikes off road

Triple front - beats the double on most CX bikes

Lightweight front sus and MTB bars - for those entertaining little singletrack sections
  • Sounds fantastic, and just the kind of challenge that I have been looking for. Sadly I will be away, not fit enough, and without a suitable bike for the event, but it's definitely a style of ride to check out for the future and one more reason to buy that shiny, new Cotic X.
