I would guess it falls foul of the anti-ticket touting laws. The shame is that also affects decent fans in the same predicament as you. Not sure how you can off load them although I would be tempted to turn up to the game and flog them to a tout, which makes a mockery of the law!
  • I would sell them to a mate, taking a loss if I had to. Do they have your name on them if so and if you sell them to an unknown Numpty who does something stupid it comes back to you and you get banned. Couldn't face not being allowed in to Church to worship the chosen ones.

Have you tried GET ME IN or any of the 'secondaryticket' sites like Seatwave? Poss. because the authorities don't want rival fans getting tickets is why these sites may not allow it. Advertise in eg Loot?

What about Viagogo. They will probably take a big cut but it's better than standing on the Fulham Road in a dodgy Burburry shouting out " I'll buy and sell any tickets".

The legal reason is that football games are "designated sports events".

There are laws that apply to "designated" events -

No drinking in view of the pitch
No ticket touts / re sell
    Etc.

The main reason is due to the violence / alcohol issues and potential for mixing spectators.
Any other sport is ok, as there just isn't the same problem with rugby etc.

Offering for sale a designated (any football league) ticket is illegal. Best thing to do is to use word of mouth. No online seller can legally do it, so even forums will ban you for trying..

    DO NOT TRY

Thanks for that info. I had no idea it was illegal. Being a staunch free-marketeer I always thought touts were doing a service at smoothing the market and simply helping balance the old demand supply curves.
I'm still awaiting announcement of the new date for Chelsea/Man U.

  • You should be able to get a refund from whichever club's ticket office that issued it.

It's Chelsea, it probably includes a cheese sandwich and a plastic cup of blue Nun. First class all the way.

If it's what is classed as a designated football match, then it is illegal to sell on any tickets for the event. If you no longer want them, you're only option is to sell them back to the agent or the ground. Advertising them in any way is an offence. Only football matches can be currently be classed as designated sporting events. It is not an offence to sell on concert tickets or tickets for any other sporting event. There may however be civil penalities for the action.
