Good evening everybody.

After reading many topics on here for the 4 months ive been cycling ive decided only fair to join in. Thanks in advance to everyone for all the advice I will need!

I live out here in mallorca but am from just outside london originally. Bought a Cube Mountain bike that was returned and now have a ghost. Ended up buying a road bike aswell to dip the toe in the water and have not touched the MTB since! have just bought my second road bike as ive now thrown myself into it. Have spent a fortune as we all do im sure but what a great way to get out and see stuff.

Started in August at just under 20 stone and am now 17.5 and did my first 102 miler last week so chuffed at how its going. well hooked.

Im using a cube Agree at the moment I bought 2nd hand here in Mallorca and will be selling that in the new year as Ive just bought a Wilier Izoard Centaur in lampre colours but dont fly back until Jan the 9th for two weeks break in the UK before flying the bike back here with me end of Jan.

Anyway you all have a great christmas and look forward to doign some rides in the UK (when I move back this year if things go ok!)

Hello Jeff, say, that Wilier is a nice bike. I bet it goes well in the sun and lovely clement temperatures (blinking brass monkeys here mate). Have a good Christmas.

Hello and welcome. Good on you. I've been cycling a wee while and have still to do a 50 miler, let alone a century!! :?

    Merry Christmas to you too
  • Hello Jeff and welcome. Hope you are fully enjoying your time in Mallorca as it is fairly taters here. Nobody is 'walking the walk' here except for the commuters and they is well 'ard.
The older I get the faster I was
  • I have been watching the news and your weather is shocking minus 18 etc up top? thats crazy but i think will happen more often althoguh i would have loved to see the snow. Im flying back on the 9th jan for two weeks so hopefully might get some more!

Yes its warmer out here for sure but summer this year we hit 109 which was just stoopid, but at the moment ok between 8 and 15 degrees in the day but come feb march will be not much different from the uk so while back in uk will pick up some long leg tights and stuff as im still in shorts and short sleeve jerset but then i dont get cold. All the locals and my god is it popular out here are all well wrapped up from head to toe, but its still pretty warm for me.

I cannot stop buying stuff for this cycling game I have literally gone well overboard I hope it ends soon! and then just get out and ride. Cannot believe how bikes have changed over the last ten years since i last really used one. Looked at soem carbon look bikes today and a ridley noah out my price range but my god what a great looking bit of kit.

Anyway thanks for the welcome and enjoy yoru xmas even if it is a little nippy over there!

As a fellow newbie, hello Jeff. If you think it's expensive buying gear and living in Mallorca just be grateful you don't need to buy all the winter gear too. Having said that, there is something nice about being wrapped up and cycling in cold weather. Well done on your progress, I know exactly what you mean by 'hooked'. Enjoy your rides back in the UK, just remember the base layer!
  • Another newbie here, hello and Merry Christmas one and all. Madrid based and freezing at the moment, but at least there's no rain...
  • Hi Don Simon Love the name haha are you a box of wine?

I went out today a lovely blue sky 15 degrees here today!

too many mince pies and windy hills though called it a day after a pathetic 14 miles!
