The ideal present

So this morning my girlfriend and I exchanged Christmas presents (she wanted to do it on the 24th as is the tradition in her country), and she found a nice little engagement ring in hers.

We're getting married in the summer. 8)

Mine's from Slovakia, but she's an ethnic Hungarian. Do you get name days as well?

My name day's a few days after Christmas, so I get 24th and 25th, then my name day, then my birthday is on New Year's Day. I like winter. 8)

Getting married to an Albanian in April (if we get permission from the UK Border Agency). I proposed with a big diamond in a small red box a month or so ago.

The best news is she was brought up a communist and doesn't give a damn for Xmas. I've (honestly) got her nothing.

In previous years our gift purchasing has been like an arms race, so we're both happy to by nothing. I got a set of Boras for my last b'day, a Gibson for the previous Xmas and a Panerai watch before that, so this year we've decided to spend £0. It feels good.
