For my local region tomorrow, snow between 4 and 10 inches deep of the bloomin' stuff. I just hope the met office have got it wrong.

  • So far here in Kettering about 50 miles south of you we,ve missed it almost completely, just half an inch of snow so far a week ago, but it looks like we are going to get hit by some tonight or tomorrow, went out today for a freezing 15 mile ride just in case.at this rate i,m heading for my lowest mileage in a month for 5 years.
  • Which forecast Frank? I don't think there is a reliable one out there at the moment as I've checked the same sites 5-day forecast for this area 3 times today and seen quite different predictions everytime!

I get the impression that snowfall is a bit hard to predict. I get the same variable forecast even on the same website when checking a few hours apart. Still, they are right about the temperatures (b*stard cold), roads so full of ice and snow one cannot even stand up and Xmas day is looking to not get above -5. No chance of a spin and the turbo in the basement doesn't have quite the same festive treat appeal.

    Bah humbug.

Cycling's out for me for a couple of weeks. I'm choosing cross country running instead. I went out yesterday at 8am and it was absolute bliss.

We are mercifully missing it for the next few days. In Cardiff on Friday we had about 15 - 20mm, not so bad in Newport where it was more like 50mm. Both places were topped up with about another 75mm over Friday night / Saturday morning and then a similar amount again on Monday. Cars coming down from the valleys have about 30 to 40cm on them, I'm not sure if it's the heaviest snow fall I can remember as I was about in 81 but back then we had huge drifts of several metres!

It was on the bbc east midlands tv early evening news.

Fortunately, while the forecast of snow was correct the depth of it was not. It's snowed most of the day but because the flakes were so small there was only about an inch of the dreaded stuff. :D
