Are Fulcrum 3s OK for 'cross?

Greetings!

My Fulcrum 7s are knackered and I need to replace them (freehub is dodgy is the last straw).

I'm thinking of investing in some Fulcrum 3s as they are so cheap at Planet X at the moment. However, there are the CX specific versions of Fulcrum 7 and 5s now so I'm wondering whether the 3s are suitable.

Has anyone been racing on 3s?

  • The CX-specific wheels have better sealing on the bearings otherwise are identical; given that Fulcrum 3s sit higher up the range than 5s or 7s I'd expect them to have superior bearings anyway, so if you can get some at a bargain price, could be worth a punt.

I've had some on my cross bike and they had seen a fair amount of use before that
I did bust a spoke last year on the HONC but I'd guess the wheels had seen 3-4 years of abuse

They'll be fine - the tyres take most of the abuse in cross and you're not generally hitting rocks or drops or anything.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
