Hello guys,
I have a Carrera Vulcan 08. My current suspension forks are Suntour XCM but I wan't to upgrade to better ones and I can't pick between these two.
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=49298 and http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=13113
The Fox one has been reduced from 720£!!! The thing is I have never used a fork with an Air spring and I don't know if it is good and most importantly if it will fit on my bike. I don't exactly know how to measure the head tube (I don't know how it is called exactly) and it says that the steerer for the Fox one is 1.5"
The RS Tora is a coil spring which I thunk will definitely work on my bike or am I wrong?
I really need your help and what you will recommend.
Thanks in advance

you have a 1 1/8th headtube, the fox's are 1.5".

Okay! Thank You very much for the information and it was very useful. Can you just tell what you think about the Rock Shocks one?0 -
Air or coil - makes no difference, they will both 'fit' as the other parts of the fork are to do with fit. Air is lighter and more adjustable, but not always as smooth.
The 302 is a good fork, but take a look at the Tora SL or Recon Silver TK {same fork} from Merlin cycles.0 -

Not sure wether these can be adjusted to 120mm, but for £99 they are the best fork you will find at this price.

Just be carefull of the travel length as well, is the suntour 100mm? I wouldnt go up to 140mm from there if I were you. Could end up up snapping your head tube weld and ruining the geometry of your bike if you do0

yes, just the same as going over your seatpost limit can crack the frame.0

Yes the Suntour is 100mm. Now I am thinking of getting this one and can you please tell me what do you think about it because a friend of mine told me that this one Tora 302 with lockout can brake easily while Tora 289 without lockout doesn't brake easily. What do you think?
Thanks to everyone0 -

That fork will be fine on that frame, and I've never heard that the 302 is less reliable. And now you know, and knowing is half the battle
