Lost my car key - Leith Hill?

Now then.

We had a great ride battling the snow on Leith Hill yesterday but one of our party had a bit of a rough day...

1) Lost (and later found) camera case.
2) Dropped and rode over his own glasses! :oops:
3)Got back to the car to find his car key had made a bid for freedom. Cue additional trips to collect the spare from SW London!

My plea is this: Please could all riders keep an eye open for an Vauxhall Astra key. Lost somewhere between the Leith Hill Tower and the Green In Westcott. We rode Summer Lightening on the way down too. :shock:

A similar thing happened to me a couple of years ago although I was considerably luckier.

I had all my stuff in a saddle pack when I hit a pot hole in 6" of snow. The zip and clamp holding the pack on broke leaving me unaware that the pack was dangling by a Velcro strap and bouncing off the rear tyre for four miles. When I got back to the car my car keys were hanging outside the pack only being held to the pack by the blipper. I felt like the luckiest man alive that day.

Yesterday I managed to lock my car keys in the car and myself out the house. Thankfully, because my car has frameless doors I could pry open the glass and use a steel tape measure to lift the door lock.

Be worth talking to the National Trust and the Wildlife Trust as they own the land up there. Someone may hand it to a staff member.

We were there yesterday, saw the camera case on a pole, but didn't see the key. Sounds as though we did the same route as you pretty much.

We were disappointed to find the case empty. Was hoping to score a free xmas present

But yeah, talk to the NT. Could try the people at the tower.

Chances are the key is still there under the snow!
