good quality shorts
gloves to suit all weathers - especially the prendas summer mitts, the best bar none
decent shoes
it's all about the contact points see, you can fiddle with the bike easily enough to get it to fit you but imagine doing a longish ride with no gloves? or wearing jeans? or sore feet?"I get paid to make other people suffer on my wheel, how good is that"

Sidas custom insoles, transformed the way I ride.
Oakleys of various shapes and tints, used on every single ride, rain or shine.
The new EMX 5 frameset currently sat upstairs waiting to be built up....0 -
Speedplay zero pedals - I need to be able to adjust the angle of the cleat engagement and then dial out nearly all of the float if I'm to avoid knee problems. Also, they just work very well and are brilliant for clearance when cornering.
Specialized toupe team saddle 143mm - seems to be tailor made for my arse.
Fizik microtex white bartape - OK, not strictly essential, but effectively essential if you want to use white bar tape on a regular basis. White bar tape always looks best and helps visibility from the front I think.0 -
flite ti saddle (8 years old with the leather all worn)

this winter it's been my gloves - Spesh SubZero gloves. They are the only things that have kept my hands even remotely warm in the cold temps.
Northwave Goretex boots have also been very good although I still get cold toes eventually on 2-3hr+ cold rides.Your Past is Not Your Potential...0 -
Endura Stealth jacket. All it needs is a base layer underneath for anything down to freezing. Or replace the base layer with a long sleeved jersey if temp does south of freezing.
Endura baabaa merino skull cap. Keeps the sweat from your eyes, keeps your head temperate and comfortable and semingly blocks all wind chill to ears and head.
Specialized Sub Zero gloves as above. I've only worn the inner glove all winter and they've been amazing no matter what the weather.0 -
