    '93 KHS Montana Pro:

Find correct shock pump & set forks up
set brakes up with new inner & outer cables
    align brake pads
    swap tyres
    remove front mech
    fit new brake levers
fit new chainring for singlespeed set up
    fit seatpost bolt
fit new seatpost when it arrives
fit new wheelset when it arrives
fit new crankarms when they arrive
thorough clean and polish up as it's a bit grubby

    '98 Clockwork:

clean all the mud off it that's been on there for a month now
    check everything still works properly

    '07 Orange 5:

    Fit saddle correctly
    fit grips
    check shock & fork pressures

    '10 Cube AMS Pro

reset rear brake & fit new pads

Then there's the road bike which probably only needs a bit more air in the tyres

Erm nothing NEEDS doing apart from cleaning, however the Mongoose will be having a new raceface single chainset/bb, I'll also put a chain device on (when I can decide which one) also I'm thinking of putting some Marzocchi 55RVs on it. Oh and finish building up my fist try at a wheel, but nothing urgent.

Why are MTB economics; spend twice as much as you intended, but only half as much as you wish you could afford?
  • Nowt! gears need adjusting maybe. What it does need is a very good clean before the new back wheel goes on.
  • Buy more bling
Get derailleur sorted as it doesn't work properly yet cause hasn't been set up properly
  • Buy new set of wheels
fit new gear inners and outers
    New brake pads

After the hideous weather disappears, the Enduro will need:

    New brake pads (Superstar kevlar)
    New chain (KMC X9)
    Probably new cassette (Ultegra)
Probably new front chainrings (middle especially, XT)

    Stoopid grit/snow.

Just replaced old deore shifters and cables with xt which has also enabled me to put the brakes exactly where I want them. Should have done it years ago.
    Smarter than the average bear.
  • Absolutely nowt, except possibly buy more bling
  • buy a bashgaurd and fit it,
    clean my chain/drivetrain
get the tar off the underside of my downtube.
  • service forks and get a new frame, thats it.

Replace seat collar. The lever's bent on the old one - it just about works but is a bit of a pain.

Try to get that air bubble out of the front brake (Elixir). It's fine 99% of the time, but there's no power on the odd occasion.

    On my

Bear Valley - just a general lube up, nothing else.

    Ground Control FSR Comp

    - Rear derailleur needs adjusting
    - BB needs tightening AGAIN
    - General clean required
Brakes have recently been changed. The BB comes loose probably once a month. Any ideas?

    Enduro - Need

    Rear Disc
    Grips
    Tyres
    Chain
    Cassette

    Want

Wheels - Spoke nipples have corroded, and have started exploding every now and then
Brakes - The old style XT's are pretty rubbish
Bar and Stem - Not blingy enough
Headset - on it's way out, but still fine

Hardrock - Pretty much everything minus wheels, cranks and the LH shifter.

Trek - Cranks, chainset, cassette, pedals, bartape, bars.

It's hard on an average of £25 a month pocket money :(
And now you know, and knowing is half the battle

Fit the 10mm axle in the rear wheel on the hemlock
    Get the Mmmbop painted
    Uncompromising extremist
  • VT in priority order:

    1. Clean it, lube it (but properly this time!)
    2. Bleed front brake
    3. Re-solder DX torch
    4. Regrease the U-Turn bearings
    5. Take to lbs and get them to identify/fix "notch" in suspension - new shock pivot? New shock? New bike?

    What will actually happen:

    1. Half hearted clean, touch of GT85 & douse chain in oil
    2. Ride around Ashton Court/Leigh Woods in the mud
    3. Stick it back in the shed 'til next time

Still, as long as I can actually get out and ride...
  • Sell Commencal Meta (it just doesn't fit me).
