Posting this again because the first dissapeared?

Was in a Curry's/PC World discount shop today and spotted Sony Vegas Movie Studio 9 Platinum Edition for £25. Did a quick google search on my phone and it came up with £63 on Play.com, so thought it was worth a punt.

Anyone got any experience with it or know if it is any good?

I've never done video editing before but just got a Panasonic TZ10 and will be getting a GoPro HD for x-mas so want to give it a go.

nothing to do with MTB so here it is again.

if anything it should be in buying advice. but you dont want it there.

Its not that I dont want it there, I've already bought it so I am not looking for 'buying advice'.

I've bought it so I can edit videos of me on my bike so I thought this would be the most appropriate place?

Right so it was moved like this one.

Wouldn't it have been better to explain that in the first place to save me re-posting?

I have Vegas, but not for HD. The user interface is good, so it is easy to to fine tune the cutting and the transitions - and the DVD creator it comes with works really well. I've not used any other editing suites in anger (other than Windows Movie Maker) but I tried several downloadable demos before deciding on Vegas for the ease of use.

nick, could you get my post back too. i can't be bothered re writing it
  • Helo mate.
Vegas is a brilliant tool. I have used it to make many DVD's. It can be complicated and will take you at least double the amount of time it would usually take to make a clip but thats only because of the extras you can do etc etc etc.
If you want a hand with any thing, hints tips etc drop me a PM.
I can show you a couple of my vids if you like, just so you get the idea of what ot can do.

Here's a VERY low-res version of a skiing DVD I made using Vegas... split into 4 for upload.

  • I've used Nero a lot for the last few years and it worked well for simple video editing but doesn't do slo-mo which my son needed. We tried Vegas HD but it seemed unnecessarily complicated so I was a bit disappointed with it.

Standard Vegas choked on Gopro files for me, it couldn't run the preview for them smoothly. Which is a wee bit of a drawback when editing. Had to go up to Studio HD Platinum which is just fine.

Can't speak for what version you have but Movie Studio HD 9 is supposed to be an HD editor, it just doesn't get along reliably with the format (or container, or somesuch, I don't understand it all ;) ) that the Gopro uses. Platinum does though.

fine then i'll just have to try and remeber what i said

i have the vegas pro 10 trail version (becasue i'm a cheapskate) i am using it for my end of year edit and it's a lot better than windows movie maker. a lot more detailed timeline, easy to use once you get the hang of it. also sony have put in a tutorial which shows you how to do things step by step and theres also quite a few videos on youtube showing some of the features etc.
