Do Conti 4 seasons treads cut easily?

I have used Ultra Gatorskins in winter for years. This year I switched to 4 seasons which seem to give better grip in the wet. I have just had to bin my rear tyre after just a couple of hundred miles. Loads of tread left but several deep cuts and I find the superglue fix never works for long. I never had trouble with cuts on the Gatorskins.
I know that tread patterns make no difference to grip on hard surfaces so I assume that the extra grip with the 4 seasons is due to the rubber being softer than the Gatorskins, or maybe the extra tread pattern allows flints to penetrate. Have other 4 seasons users had trouble with tread cuts?
