    Just had a fried breakfast, planning on wandering into town, finish off the christmas shopping, sit in a cafe for a few hours with a good book.

    I feel it, when I sorrow most;
    'Tis better to have loved and lost;
    Than never to have loved at all."

    Not a lot - nursing a broken elbow after hitting ice last weekend :-(
    Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos

    Bad luck there Slow Downcp. I have just popped out to the local shop and saw some young lad on an MTB going flying across the road on his asre. Luckily, he was OK but he left his phone on the road. I spotted it but, before we could get it, a car came along and was just completely unable to stop or steer before sliding over the phone (luckily missed it). Thank god it wasn't the cyclist still there.

    I like the Tenerife option...

    Taking back my hired tuxedo when I've sobered up. I wanted to ride, but it's not worth the risk. I'll put in a few dozen stomach crunches and pushups when I get back.

    Then it's corned beef hash!

    Walking across the snow covered fields to the nearsest village pub for a Sunday lunch and open log fire. Back again for a lazy snooze in front of my own fire.
  • I am back from my ride safely ..... going to meet my non cycling lazy fat mates in the pub later now ... no footy to watch though :-(

    treacherous adj: faithless, ready to betray trust, traitorous.

    Not sure it's the right word, but the news reporters use it often enough! ;-)

  • Definitions of treacherous on the Web:

    •dangerously unstable and unpredictable; "treacherous winding roads"; "an unreliable trestle"
    •punic: tending to betray; especially having a treacherous character as attributed to the Carthaginians by the Romans; "Punic faith"; "the perfidious Judas"; "the fiercest and most treacherous of foes"; "treacherous intrigues"

    You're correct; that first type of usage (for weather and inanimate objects) has crept into modern English, but it never should have.

    Are there any other correct definitions of words that you are not satisfied with? If you let us know we can all amend our usage.

    Or we could just let our I phones decide which words to use.

    That would be hilarious.

    That's the only one that springs to mind at the moment, fella. No need to amend usage either; as I said it's now an accepted term for hazardous weather conditions... just an example of a word that has been misused so many times that the misue actually becomes the most common usage.

    I wouldn't rely on your phone; we've all seen what happens when we do that.

    No mate, not at all. I just thought I might point it out... a lot of us are stuck in because of the weather and a little bit of intelligent banter always helps. :)

    5 hours in the snow on the cross bike yesterday and a cross-race in the snow today - doesn't get any better than that! I'll probably ache a bit tomorrow - crashed three times in the race and had to run the last 400m to the finish hard as my transmission jammed on the last dismount!

    Not half. Today's been productive in a few other ways, but I'm missing the suffering to be honest. For now it's corned beef hash and a beer, but I've got my eye on an early morning run to blow the cobwebs off!

    Sledging with the kids today. Snow was well worn from all the sledgers the last few days but on the hill it was compacted to almost ice and it was FAST! :o

    Was going to do a 6-8 mile run, but ended up pushing it to half-marathon distance. I beat my PB by 8 minutes too, even in the snow :lol:
