Yes, and if you get the a Minoura E-RDA-80 you don't even need to change the tyres as it applies pressure to the rims.
The Minoura E-RDA-80 is designed for MTB.

We've sold plenty and I've never known anyone complain about rim wear. I'd say the biggest issue would be the lack of a decent flat surface on many disc rims.0
