Dying to get out tomorrow (Sun 19th)

Was thinking Lee/ Cragg, Macc Forest or Llandegla

Does anyone know if these are rideable?

Moreover, are the access roads driveable???

Any alternatives would be greatly appreciated

  • North West is a big area, where are you based?

    And yes Llandegla is closed

  • Same here, but not driving anywhere tomorrow.

9.30 ride out from Aintree to Formby to Southport to Maghull via the Cheshire Lines

Have a look at your local club as well http://www.thewoollybacks.co.uk/content.php

    Cheshire Lines eh?

Never heard of them. Got a link?

I presume Aintree to Southport would be the Trans Pennine but how do you get from there to Maghull?

Thanks for the club link too

Is that going to be doable, there is 9 inches of snow here at the end of the trail.?

That's some pretty big tyres you have there but the snow is a lot deeper than that.
I tried but couldn't even move.

  • The trail in the shot was next to the Aintree race course this morning was upto 8" deep and there were no problems sailing through it

Oh, it doesn't look so deep there. Have fun then.
What route are you taking to Formby?

Do you mean Rimrose Valley Country Park, in Crosby?

  • That's the one, it only leaves about a 1/4 of a mile on the road

I'm confused, so are you going from there to Southport or just turning back?

  • Do you want a map ;-)

Heading north from the Iron men to Ainsdale then if time up to Southoport and returning back to Ainsdale, before heading inland to the Cheshire Lines.

A map would certainly help :?
So are you going to ride on the beach then, from Crosby to Ainsdale?

  • Yes, apart from near the rifle ranges

Interesting. Have you done it before?

  • Every other weekend for the last 3 years as a training speed loop.

    Fancy it?

Possibly, but not in 9 inches of snow, that's going to be incredibly tough. I often go down the Cheshire Lines trail but then I usually come back the same way.
