shock problem

hy chap's, just got beck from a ride on cannock chase trails ( my very 1st winter ride ) in the snow.. unfortunately cut short. the back end started to hop & hiss, took a look to find shock oil pouring out from the adj lever.... its going back to specialized on monday but just wondered what had gone wrong and has anyone else had the same prob's.. specialized xc pro 2010 fox triad rear shock. cheers

Trying not to state the obvious but sounds like you've blown a seal somewhere possibly in the damping circuit if it's coming from the adjuster.
