Just had a look at the betting for contenders, Cavendish is joint outsider with Hayes, best price 80/1 ......now if we all wait til last minute before having a flutter on him, then get friends/relations to vote on the night, we can take the bookies for a ride

?? Isn't he the boxer who talks a lot but can't box or am I getting confused?0

A P Mc Coy is favourite but it would be the 1st time a jockey (racing) has won it, the only other jockey (show jumping) to win was David Broome back in 1960, general feeling is Mc Coy will win it on the merits of his 1st Grand National victory, but considering Frankie Dettori couldn't win it in the year of his 'magnificent 7' i would be surprised if McCoy wins, after all how many 'house wives' watch SPOTY?0

Must be Cavs last chance even he wins the Green next year I can't see the BEEB putting him up as a candidate three years running.
I've stuck a fiver on him at 80/1 that makes errr ..0 -

Tony McCoy, but there's two things to note here. 1. The favourite hasn't won since Flintoff in 2005. 2. He's favourite because lots of money has been bet on him, and gamblers like horse racing.
Personally, I think it will be Ennis, McDowell or Swann. I'd bet on Swann, who is very popular.Twitter: @RichN950 -

I disagree. Next year he'll win some more stages, the green jersey seems to be set up for him and the World's is on the cards. And 2011 doesn't have any big events other than the athletics worlds (Ennis) and the rugby world cup (which a southern team will win).
(Of course the likes of Murray, Hamilton, some golfer could all get a big win).Twitter: @RichN950 -

I reckon it'll be Swann as well, especially with you lot doing so well in the Ashes 9even if it hasn't been Swann's doing).0 -

Really? I could have sworn that (using the definition of anyone riding a horse being classed as a jockey) Zara Phillips won it a few years back (obviously only because she was royal and people knew her, nothing to do with her being a European and World champion) and her mum won back in the early 70s.0 -

5-91 in the second innings of the last Test. He's doing his bit.Twitter: @RichN950 -

Dettori would have had a better chance if he wasn't Italian0 -

Sorry - I meant he isn't the predominant reason you're doing so well.0 -

I stand corrected, when looking at the past winners the sport ' eventing ' evaded me :oops:0 -

+1 for Swann. As much as I would love Cav to win it, if the Ashes carry on the way they are and we absolutely smash the Aussies then I think its a dead cert for Swann.0
