i'm thinking of varying up the way i ride to work with a few trips from the bay area towards penarth and then up penarth road to work.

cheers dude :D

Not commuted by bike for a week or two, but yes,I normally go across the barrage. The barrage is lit, but not that well - I use a 20W Lumicycle Halogen Lamp to light my way. There is also a bit of a re-route/detour to the path near where the visitors "tube" is, due to the building work. Surface can be a bit iffy in the wet/frost. Thankfully they've removed the speed-bumps.

I get caught out by the barrage opening once or twice a week - when commuting every day. Not too bad if you're the Cardiff side as there's a cafe right next to it.

Would you be heading up Paget Road or through the Marina? Paget Road is an absolute b1tch of a climb after a day's work...

i haven't really thought where i'd park the car yet, i'm just getting a bit bored of the taff trail :?

hmm, i might give it a trial run later this week, if i can think of somewhere to park

How about parking in the Morrisons Carpark in the bay, then going across the new foot/bike bridge near the Whitewater rafting place, which would bring you out virtually over the road from Tesco's. Or if you want a longer ride, ride across the bridge to Cardiff Bay, and then across the Barrage.

Another option would be the car park at the junction of Lloyd George Avenue and Tyndall Street - £4.50 for the day.

Apart from that, the only other parking I can think of would be in the Cardiff side of the Bay, which would be a bit pricey for the day.

i was thinking of parking by the wharf pub somewhere, but that'd only be about an 8 mile round trip, where i park now is a 15 mile round trip, which is a quite nice distance
