I had some bad news today so I'm posting on here to get out of the doldrums. After 3 yrs of trying to find out the problem with my back and hip they found out that I have Femoro-acetabular impingement and knackered femur head. Looks like an op to repair it or possibly Hip Arthroscopy which is less intrusive. I'm so bloody frustrated with it all. My career looks like it'll be over (police) as I'm in line for medical retirement and we have a baby on the way and a move to San Francisco coming in May. I'm thinking about putting it off but everywhere I've researched other sufferers say not to because it'll heighten the possbility of a full hip replacement.
Feeling quite dejected as you can tell.

  • Sorry to hear. If your going to California maybe you can get the doc that did Landis' surgery to do yours. Look how well things worked out for him.

Nothing wrong with sharing bad news - especially if it leads to an alternate solution. Maybe someone here will have some advice for you that helps.

And it may seem trite to say - but you never know - this could be an opportunity in disguise. Although I'm sure it seems like the end of the world at the moment.

Been down that road before to a certain degree and hoping you find a happy solution to your problem soon.
  • Cheers for the replies.
